CASIO STANDARD - CA-53 CALCULATOR-styleIntroducing a series of new models that pay homage to the 1972 groundbreaking release of the world's first personal calculator, the "CASIO MINI." These models combine the distinctive coloring and design of the CASIO MINI with the long-selling CA-53 CALCULATOR-style watch model. A light-on-dark green LCD readout combines with a numeric keypad uses the same font as the original CASIO MINI, with keys separated by grid lines. The mode indicator in the upper right corner of the keypad is highlighted in red to mimic the power lamp of the calculator, and white lines above and below the face create a retro-modern aesthetic. Functions include an 8-digit calculator, dual time, stopwatch, alarm, and more. The bands are made using bio-based resin, which can contribute to a lighter environmental load.
CASIO MINI: The World's First Personal Calculator The CASIO MINI first hit the scene in 1972 as the world's first personal calculator. It featured a single-chip LSI, a 6-digit display, and a simple component design, making it one-fourth the size and one-third the price (JPY12,800) of calculators available at the time. The CASIO MINI was a major success, selling one million units in the first 10 months and six million units overall, greatly expanding the use of calculators from the office to the home. This innovative product was registered as an Important Historical Asset for Science and Technology by the Japanese National Museum of Nature and Science in 2008.
