Casio to Release G-SHOCK & BABY-G Collaboration Models with Environmental Conservation Group “WILDLIFE PROMISING”

Tokyo, January 23, 2019 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today the release of new G-SHOCK and BABY-G shock-resistant watches. The new models have been produced in collaboration with WILDLIFE PROMISING, a certified non-profit organization tackling issues related to wildlife conservation and coexistence among wildlife and people in Africa. Casio will gradually roll out the three watches: the GG-1000WLP-1A, GR-B100WLP-7A and BA-255WLP-7A.

Since the late-1990s, Casio has lent support to many environmental groups by producing collaborative G-SHOCK and BABY-G models under the theme of “Love the Sea and the Earth.” The partner for the new models, WILDLIFE PROMISING, seeks to create a better living environment for both wild animals and human beings. It carries out social action and conservation efforts based on academic research, including conservation ecology studies on wild leopards living in Africa. The planning for this collaboration was born from the appreciation Casio had for what WILDLIFE PROMISING is doing and the company’s desire to inform a wider range of people about that work.

The collaboration models, the GG-1000WLP-1A, GR-B100WLP-7A and BA-255WLP-7A, are designed with motifs representing three wild species found in Africa: the leopard, the African fish eagle, and the lilac-breasted roller. The case back is engraved with the “Love the Sea and the Earth” symbol mark. Each watch comes in a specially designed package decorated with illustrations of its animal and livery featuring its colors.

Casio will continue supporting various environmental groups under the “Love the Sea and the Earth” concept by producing collaborative G-SHOCK and BABY-G models.

WILDLIFE PROMISING

WILDLIFE PROMISING is a certified NPO that tackles issues related to wildlife conservation and coexistence among wildlife and people in Africa. The organization currently focuses on wild leopards living in the east African country of Kenya. Conservation ecology studies are conducted around Nairobi, in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, and in northern Kenya, looking at interaction between wild animals and human beings. Based on this academic research, the group seeks to create a better living environment for both wildlife and people by carrying out social action and conservation activities.

GG-1000WLP-1A (G-SHOCK)

Inspired by the leopard, which rules over much of the land in Africa, this design features a black case and leopard print band. It is based on the GG-1000 MUDMASTER, which boasts enhanced resistance to dust and dirt thanks to its cylindrical button guard structure and comes outfitted with twin sensors for compass bearing and temperature.

GR-B100WLP-7A (G-SHOCK)

This design adopts a white-and-black case, a yellow second hand and a brown band to symbolize the African fish eagle, the king of the skies. It is based on the GR-B100 GRAVITYMASTER, an aviation concept watch equipped with the accuracy and functionality required for flight. It pairs with Bluetooth^®-capable smartphones via the G-SHOCK Connected* app to provide the wearer with Point Memory. This feature can generate a flight log for managing and saving records of times and distances traveled on flights.

BA-255WLP-7A (BABY-G)

This motif comes from the gorgeously colorful lilac-breasted roller, a bird with a plumage of 14 different colors. The design has a white base and is accented by all 14 colors distributed across the index marks, hands, strap keeper, buttons and logo. It comes with Neon Illuminator, which makes specially coated dial features glow using an internal black light. When lit, the hands glow pink and green to give the watch an even more colorful appearance.

An application exclusively for G-SHOCK models with smartphone connectivity. Pairs with a smartphone via Bluetooth^® to enable automatic time correction, world time and other time settings. Allows the watch to display the time in the current time zone and adjust for daylight savings time, anywhere in the world.
