PRX-8000T
TOKYO, October 5, 2015 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today a new addition to the PRO TREK line of outdoor watches. The new PRX-8000T is part of the sophisticated "MANASLU* "series of PRO TREK watches which offer the ultimate in functionality and design. The PRX-8000T delivers outstanding readability and wearability even in the extreme conditions users face at 8,000-meter alpine heights.
*Taking its name from Manaslu mountain, one of the 14 highest peaks of the world above 8,000 meters. Manaslu was first summited in 1956 by members of a Japanese expedition.
The PRX-8000T is the new flagship model in the "MANASLU" series of PRO TREK watches developed with the input of professional climber.
The PRX-8000T watch has a high-contrast design for maximum readability in unforgiving alpine conditions as high as 8,000 meters above sea level. The watch features bold white index marks and large hour and minute hands made from carbon fiber, which make a clear contrast against the black watch face and relatively inconspicuous logos and city codes. The large index mark at 12 o'clock is distinguished by a special shape and further highlighted by an arrow etched into the top of the case.
The index marks have been given a dual luminescent coating to ensure readability when climbing, since reading time can be of utmost importance when struggling for oxygen at high elevations or battling adverse weather or low light. The band, back case, and other key metal components are made from titanium for light weight and feature a titanium carbide coating. These features make the PRX-8000T watch a reliable companion for climbing summits, offering lightweight comfort even when worn for long periods.
The PRX-8000T is the first PRO TREK "MANASLU" watch to feature the latest Triple Sensor Ver. 3 technology from Casio, which determines compass bearing, barometric pressure/altitude, and temperature with high precision. The PRX-8000T is also equipped with an atmospheric pressure tendency alarm that notifies the wearer of sudden swings in atmospheric pressure, and comes with Multi-Band 6 technology for receiving time-calibration signals transmitted from six stations around the world. The bezel, buttons, and crown have a wear-resistant diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating and the face features scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, for a highly functional and rugged design.
