Tokyo, July 31, 2019 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the latest addition to the PRO TREK line of outdoor watches. The PRT-B50 and PRT-B50FE are the first PRO TREK models with quad sensor and Smartphone Link functions.
The new PRT-B50 and PRT-B50FE are the latest models in the evolution of the PRO TREK line, and they are packed with features that make them even easier to use for outdoor activities. The new watches are equipped with quad sensor — three sensors that detect compass bearing, barometric pressure/altitude, and temperature, plus an accelerometer for counting steps. They also come with Smartphone Link functions, linking to the PRO TREK Connected app on a smartphone using Bluetooth® to offer a host of functions that support outdoor activities. These include a location indicator that shows the direction and distance to a destination saved to the app, automatic time adjustment, tracking of calories burned, which is calculated based on step count and altitude data, and trekking logs.
For improved usability, the user can set the watch modes from the app, including turning modes on or off, and changing the sequence in which modes appear on the display. This allows the user to customize the watch display according to how the watch is used; just choose to display only frequently used functions, such as timers and alarms, or change the display sequence.
For optimum readability, the PRT-B50 and PRT-B50FE have a wide watch face that incorporates a large, rotating bezel and Arabic numeral indices. The new models have been designed for ease of use in a wide range of outdoor activities, with a urethane band that features a 3D texture throughout and a strap keeper that stays in place.

Trekking log
The app automatically records altitude data from the watch and GPS data from the smartphone. The user can also manually acquire altitude data at any point and plot that point on the trek route.
Calories burned
Displays the calories burned as calculated based on step count and altitude data, saving it as an activity log.
Location indicator
The user can operate the watch buttons to save the current location in the app. In this mode, the compass bearing of the saved location point is indicated by the second hand of the watch and the distance is indicated on the LCD.
Customizable mode/display
Using the app, the user can turn the watch modes on or off and change the sequence in which the modes appear on the display. This allows the user to customize the display for the intended use, for instance showing only certain functions or changing the sequence to show frequently used functions first. The default content on the LCD can also be customized.
Automatic altitude adjustment (four times per day)
Altitude measurement values on the watch are automatically adjusted based on altitude data acquired from the smartphone GPS.
Automatic time adjustment (four times per day)
The watch connects to the app to automatically download global time updates such as time zone changes and daylight savings time (DST) data by country. The time rules are stored on the watch to automatically adjust the time based on the latest data.
World time mode
The user can set the world time for more than 300 cities simply by selecting a city from the world map or city list in the app.
Mobile phone finder
By operating the watch, the user can trigger an audible alert on the mobile phone even if it is set to silent mode. This helps in locating the phone.
