TOKYO, July 28, 2014 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today the
release of the PRG-280, a new model in its PRO TREK line of outdoor
watches. The new watch is designed for those who enjoy all kinds of
outside activities including hiking and water sports.
Equipped with advanced sensor technology developed by Casio, PRO TREK
watches capture a variety of data on the surrounding environment. They
have become popular not only with mountain climbing enthusiasts, but
also with people who enjoy trail running, trekking, and camping.
In addition to twin sensors for compass bearing and temperature, the new
PRG-280 features a large register ring useful for taking bearings. It
is also water resistant to 200 meters for ocean and river activities.
This outdoor watch is designed for all kinds of situations and
environments.
The large compass button to the right of the face is easy to press, even
when wearing gloves. With just one push, it continuously measures the
compass direction for 20 seconds. The bearing memory function allows the
user to record the current location and the direction to the
destination. Even when visibility conditions are poor due to fog or
other circumstances, and even at sea, the wearer can stay on course
using the graphic digital display.
The new watch also features large index marks and lettering, with broad
hour and minute hands, all combined on an over-sized watch face, to make
the rich variety of information easy to read at a glance.
