Watchband Strap Keeper Emblazoned with Stars Representing all 30 Memorable Years

TOKYO, October 15, 2012 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., continues to
celebrate the 30th anniversary of its G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant
watches—coming up in April 2013—by announcing today the release of the
GW-A1030A Thirty Stars watch, its 30th anniversary commemorative model.
Engraved with 30 stars, the new watch is based on Casio's Gravity Defier
series, which features functions that are especially practical for
pilots.
The G-SHOCK brand got its start when a single Casio engineer decided to
try to develop a watch that was virtually unbreakable. The original
model with shock-resistant construction was released in 1983.
Overturning the idea of wristwatches being fragile and easy to break,
the G-SHOCK created a whole new market for tough watches. Since that
time, the brand has continued to evolve in pursuit of even greater
toughness. Casio has developed nearly 3,000 G-SHOCK models thus far.
With the inclusion of innovative functions and constant performance
improvements, the G-SHOCK brand continues to define the cutting edge.
This new watch is based on Casio's GW-A1000 model from the Gravity
Defier series, which features functions used by airplane pilots designed
for the rigorous demands of flying. The new 30th anniversary
commemorative model, the GW-A1030A inherits the cutting-edge features of
the GW-A1000 and the signature toughness of G-SHOCK watches that has
kept advancing for the past 30 years.
Befitting a commemorative model, the Thirty Stars watch features
specially customized gold ion plating on its metal parts, including the
side buttons, back plate, buckle and strap keeper, contrasting against
the black body and watchband, the representative color of the G-SHOCK
brand. "Since 1983" is printed on the watchband to show the birth year
of the first G-SHOCK watch, and 30 stars are engraved on the strap
keeper to represent Casio's unrelenting 30-year pursuit of the toughest
watches in the world. The model also features Casio's Triple G Resist
construction to resist shocks, centrifugal force, and vibrations, and is
equipped with Casio's Smart Access system to enable smooth operations
of various functions. All of these features combine to realize
outstanding toughness and operability.
As with the first 30th anniversary G-SHOCK models released in August
this year, the back plates of the GW-A1030A are engraved with a 30th
anniversary logo designed by world-famous graphic designer Eric Haze,
and each watch comes with custom packaging worthy of the special
occasion.
