TOKYO, April 24, 2013 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the
release of new EQW-A1200 watches, which boast a multi-function
chronograph with a compass function where the second hand points north,
and a vibration-resistant configuration. The watches are new flagship
models in the EDIFICE lineup of metal watches expressing the excitement
of motor sports, under the concept of "Speed and Intelligence."
The EQW-A1200 integrates a leading-edge analog drive system called
Multi-Mission Drive,, which independently moves multiple hands, with
sensor technology. This model is equipped with a compact direction
sensor, enabling a multi-function chronograph with a compass function.
The second hand points north, allowing the wearer to check his bearings
at a glance, making it an ideal driving partner for active men. It also
uses a new vibration-resistant configuration developed by Casio
following an R&D visit to Infiniti Red Bull Racing, where various
mechanics and engineers suggested this would be very valuable to them
when working on the Formula One™ car.
Casio is proud to be a Team Partner of the current Triple World
Champions and is delighted to have been able to develop this kind of
performance for the Team. The timekeeping module is encased in a highly
vibration-resistant alpha gel,* which reduces
the vibration conveyed from the impact wrench used when replacing
tires. In addition, the joint between the case and the bands has been
reinforced with a carbon pipe, all in rigorous pursuit of vibration
resistance.
*A highly vibration-absorbent soft gel made of silicon and other materials
In addition to the Multi-Band 6 technology for receiving
time-calibration signals transmitted from six stations in the world, it
also comes with the highly acclaimed Smart Access system. A function for
recording ten lap times, fastest lap and other functions befitting the
racing world can be set intuitively with the crown switch.
The design features a large inset dial at the six o'clock position
embedded in a multi-dimensional X-shaped frame, for a dynamic watch face
with a strong visual impact.
