"Giant Countdown Clocks in Germany" CASIO presents the Countdown Clock to the
2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™
EX-Z750
Norderstedt, June 2005 - Germany is in football fever. Millions of football fans all over the world are already looking forward to this outstanding event: national football teams from over 30 countries and more than 3 million guests are expected here in Germany. Billions of people will follow the games on their TV screens. The world will be Germany's guest, and preparations are already in full swing everywhere. As they are at CASIO Computer Co., Ltd. - licensee for the product category Watches of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. Within the scope of the collaboration between CASIO with FIFA there will be a series of watches with the official emblem of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, the FIFA licensee emblem as well as a picture of FIFA World Cup Trophy that will go on sale as licenced World Cup watches.

And as if that isn't enough! In cooperation with the German cities holding the games, CASIO has thought up a special highlight to get you in the mood for the world's biggest football tournament. From June onwards eight - for the time being - colossal Countdown Clocks in the form of a giant G-SHOCK digital display will be counting down the days to the big exciting event. Furthermore it will feature the exact time, down to the second, thanks to CASIO's radio-controlled technology, matching the clock to precise local time so fans won't miss a second of the action.

The clocks will be erected in June at prominent points in the FIFA World Cup Host Cities Berlin, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Kaiserslautern, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich and Nuremberg. Here they will each display the remaining time up to the opening game on 9th June 2006 in Munich. The capital Berlin takes on a small special role here. Directly on the Strasse des 17. Juni - one of the busiest traffic junctions in the city - the Countdown Clock erected here will count down the days to the kick-off to the final game on 9th July 2006 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. On 9th June 2005 in Berlin, Hiroshi Nakamura, Managing Director CASIO Europe GmbH, unveil the clock in a formal ceremony together with Klaus Boger, Senator for Education, Youth and Sport, Bernd Schiphorst, President of the local First Division club Hertha BSC and honorary Chairman of the Berlin branch of the organisational committee of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, as well as numerous press representatives.

CASIO is pleased with the commitment and the productive collaboration with the individual cities. Hiroshi Nakamura at the Berlin press conference: "With this Countdown Clock, CASIO would like to actively support the venues in their preparation for the 2006 FIFA World CupTM and put the population in the mood for this major sporting event with a "round-the-clock" presence."

FIFA and CASIO can look back on a long and successful collaboration. CASIO was already the Licensee for the product category Clocks and Watches at the 1994 FIFA World Cup USA and 1998 FIFA World Cup France. The Japanese corporation, whose European headquarters is located in Norderstedt, again entered into a product licensing agreement with FIFA for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™.

The corporate philosophy of CASIO Computer Co., Ltd., which was founded in Tokyo in 1957, is characterised by two fundamental principles: "creativity and contribution". They describe the company's claim of making a social contribution with original and useful products. Products that advance social progress, bring pleasure and contribute to life culture with their innovative functions of offering people support in everyday life. These principles of "creativity and contribution" are also noticeable in CASIO's commitment and will be again during the 2006 FIFA World Cup™.
